Viewing prior versions

Viewing prior versions of a document lets you see the property values and files of the document at the time when the version was active. Prior versions can be major versions or minor versions as described in Understanding minor versions. For information about creating new versions, see Creating a new version.

To view a prior version:

  1. In the Documents view, click the version number of the document for which you want to view its prior versions. A page listing all of the versions of the document appears.

    OR

    1. Open the property page of the item as described in Viewing and editing document properties.
    2. In the ribbon, in the Document group, click Version history. A page listing all of the versions of the document appears.
  2. To view all of the properties of a prior version, click its version number.
